What happens in Counselling?
Counselling is a process that enables clients to feel comfortable in talking openly about their problems, making sense of their feelings and situation by sharing their perspective, gaining new perspectives that will ultimately lead to change or feeling more empowered. The process is boundaried, which means your counsellor will agree up front your appointment time and sessions will last for one hour. The counsellor will ensure that ethical principles are upheld, working professionally and within their level of competence.
As the counsellor works in an integrated way, she will draw on different techniques from a number of different theoretical models, for example, cognitive behavioural therapy, person centred, solution focused, systemic and psychodynamic which can really help where relationship/sexual issues are concerned.
